Happy St. Patrick's Day... There's a Gator in My Yard!

Okay, it's a cute gator... on the front of Dominic's outfit, but still, this is Mississippi!  Anything is possible! :)

For our St. Patrick's Day celebration we thought we'd test out our Irish heritage and see how Dominic liked green... grass that is.

He didn't.

I'm not sure if it was the weird green stuff or the leaves in between or the fact that our grass is NOT thick... remember Mississippi with lots of pine trees and not a lot of money for landscaping. :)

...or it could have just been the fact that I set him down.  He's beginning to be a little more clingy especially since he was with Vivian all day yesterday so that I could work.

After just a minute, he decided to stop panicking and look around.  It got a little more interesting, but he still didn't last very long.
Life got much better once Micayla showed up to play.  She'd never been in grass before either... but by that time, I decided that maybe a blanket between the babies and nature was a good idea.

All in all, Dominic just likes to be held... and even though it wasn't me holding him, he was happy to show off his new teeth for the camera. If you look close you can see his top right one poking through and the two bottom teeth that we've long since gotten used to.  This morning, his top left tooth was officially THROUGH the gums!  It has been hanging out for a while trying to decide whether to appear or not.  ...just a day too late for the camera.

All in all, we learned a couple of good lessons yesterday...
1. We don't like grass (which is fine b/c we don't have much!!!)
2. Concrete, although more stable ground for babies is not necessarily better than grass... good thing Melissa was quick... I won't say any more.
3. Dominic has the same sweetness that his mother has...
after 30 minutes outside in the front yard, his back had apparently been somebody's supper.

Trapped In A Cage

Dominic had a great late night call from Grandma and Grandpa Potter, Aunt Dream & Uncle Ryan, & Aunt Melissa.  He was sound asleep when the call began, but quickly woke up and played for the camera!

I put him back in the crib, went to fill up his vaporizer and came back to Dominic grasping the bars on the crib with his sad little face pressed up between them like a little convict!  Of course, by the time I got the camera, he moved, but here's how he looked when I made it back...

So sad to be left after such a good time, but rest assured it only took him a few minutes and only a couple tired cries before he was snoring again.  What a rough life!

A Tired Afternoon

Dominic and I stopped by Chick Fil A to see Daddy on the way to the church this afternoon.  He got passed around quite a bit since it was in the middle of the "afternoon lull."  Below, his new friend Tanya was introducing him to daisies.  He thought they were really funny!
On the way to the church, he crashed.YEAH!!!!  I love afternoon naps!

Knees, Ears & Teeth!

Dominic had a pretty big day yesterday. He's not quite been himself the past couple of days and as I suspected, he's got infection in both ears. Although he's hurting, it doesn't slow him down much. He took off crawling last night.
He's been on the verge for several weeks now, but last night, I set the laptop on the floor on a blanket so that Dominic could "Skype" with Grandma and Grandpa Potter. While I was distracted pointing the webcam in the right direction, Dominic could only think about getting to the computer screen and took off across the floor. He managed to do this a total of 3 times before I could get the camera ready to record. Of course, by the time I was ready to tape him, he was done crawling. Here's his best tired effort...

Of course you can't see it in the video because they're barely visible in person, but his top two front teeth are coming in. The one on his right side is through the skin and the other is not far behind. Once they're in plain sight, we'll post pictures. For now, you'll have to take my word for it...and you really don't want to put your fingers in his mouth any more!

And the next morning...

So I spent the day yesterday showing off what a cute baby I had and how goofy he looks when he first wakes up.  This morning, he made me fly out of bed because the alarm on the baby monitor... the one that is supposed to go off if he stops breathing... was going off.
There he was sitting in the corner of the bed...

with the monitor in his hand.
He was still moving alright, but he had unplugged the cord coming from the motion sensor.
Notice the silver peg on the wall clear up at the top right corner of the picture...that's where the monitor HAD been.

Apparently, Dominic has figured out how to pull himself to a standing position to reach a fun glowing blue light on the wall. The monitor has already been relocated.  My next project will be moving the mattress down to the lowest level.  This will make the second time I've moved the mattress in the last 2 weeks.  Ah, the changes are coming so fast!

Good Morning!

I used to wake up very slow and sometimes grumpy...  I know it's hard to imagine!
Not so much anymore... this is what I have to wake up to:

Snow in Mississippi?

In case you don't recognize the scene, this is my front yard following the "blizzard" of February 28th-March 1st in Jackson, Mississippi! Watch out folks, maybe I should consider staying home from church... the roads may be icy!

...in case you can't see the snow, look at the very minuscule white glistening on top of the landscape timbers. Wow... I'm glad I moved to the south!
